Knowledge Base

A network access block will result in the client not being able to access the internet. The majority of blocks are put in place by UITS to prevent infecting the UConn network from viruses. Those with violations will be re-directed to this site: http://security.uconn.edu/stop/

Reasons for Blocks

  1. Security Issues due to Virus/Hacks -- There are two main ways to resolve these:
    • Verification - Clients may decide to try and fix the problem themselves
    • Clients may decide to have ResNet repair and clean the machine.
  2. Network Abuse Violation -- You may have received an email about this.
  3. Copyright Violation -- You may have received an e-mail about this.
