Configuring Airport Express in OSX

• After the computer boots, double-click on Macintosh HD and double-click on Applications



• Double-click on Utilities



• Double-click on Airport Setup Assistant
• If you do not see the Airport Setup Assistant, click Here. Otherwise, continue with the directions below.



• At the "Introduction" screen, click Continue



• Choose to "Set up a new AirPort Base Station" and click Continue



• At the next screen, you will be told that a "new Airport Express" was found. Click Continue at the bottom of the screen.



• Choose to "Create a new wireless network" and click Continue



• You will then be asked to name your wireless network and your Airport Express



• Choose a unique name that only you would know and click Continue



• Choose 128-bit WEP for your security and enter a 13-digit unique strong password (including one number and one special character). Choose to Remember this password and then click Continue



• Choose to connect to a "local area network (LAN)" and click Continue



• Choose to configure TCP/IP Using DHCP and click Continue



• Choose a unique strong password (including one number and one special character), choose to "remember this password" and click Continue



• Double-check the settings and click Update



• A progress bar will now show that the update is running and that the setup assistant is "waiting for Airport Express to restart"



• The progress bar will then show that the setup assistant is "looking for your wireless network"



• After the progress is complete, the window will show a "Summary" screen. Click Quit



• In "Utilities", open the Airport Admin Utility



• Choose your Airport Express and click Configure



• Make sure that "Channel" is set to Automatic and "Mode" is set to 802.11b/g Compatible



• Then, click the box next to "Create a Closed Network" and click OK on the pop-up



• Click Update



• A window will now alert you that the base station is restarting. Click OK



• Close all open windows
• Plug an ethernet cord from the wall to the device and restart the computer.
• Click on wireless menu on the top right of the screen and choose to connect to the '''Other..." network



• Enter the SSID you chose earlier (this is shown as the "Network Name"). Also, choose WEP Password for "Wireless Security" and enter the 13-digit password you chose earlier. Click OK
• YOUR AIRPORT IS ALL SET AND YOU SHOULD NOW BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE INTERNET!!
