- Violations
- A Bandwidth Violation occurs if any/all computers registered to a particular NetID have a combined bandwidth of over 5gb in any 7-day period.
- In the event that your computer has been hacked it may result in a bandwidth violation due to the activity of the computer. However, this does not void the limitation but instead labels your computer as a security risk and will be referred to the shop for cleaning.
- File sharing and peer-to-peer applications (ie. Kazaa, Bearshare, Ares, etc.) will be blocked and everything else will be slowed to 64k (almost dial-up speed).
- The slow connection will last until there have been 7 consecutive days where traffic has been less than 5gb.
- This means that if you go 3 days using less than 5gb and then go over on the next day (while you are already being slowed) you will restart the 7-day penalty on that day. The slowed connection could last for more than 7 days because of this.
- Excessive bandwidth violations may be classified as network abuse and may lead to judicial action or loss of internet.
