Loud Noises
This isn’t a cause for panic, but it’s never a good thing! Try to determine the exact source of the noise. Most computers have only three “moving” parts: the hard drive, the CD drive, and the fans. If your computer only makes these loud noises with a CD inside, you can bet that the problem is the CD drive.
You can usually distinguish fan noises from hard drive noises based on where the vents are located. If the loud noise is coming from a fan, check for foreign objects. If you can’t see anything, it’s still worthwhile to buy a can of compressed air to spray the vents – you’d be surprised how much dust builds up!
If the noises are coming from the hard drive, you should back up your data as soon as possible, as the drive might be on its way out.
